We are working towards curating the cultural heritage of the interiors of Bengal, handcrafted by some unbelievably talented artists. And are reaching them to a diverse audience, who care for uniqueness and believe in the art of the soil.

An equally strong objective of Donovas is to ensure that artisans are rewarded fairly and fully for their meticulous efforts and also the buyers get the products at affordable rates. For this, we have removed all mid-barriers between us and the artisans, whereby we provide them the raw materials directly and collect back the finished goods from them, directly.

Founders & Partners

It is Debleena’s passion and Nirmal’s vision that has given shape to Donovas.

Debleena was the administrative head of Teachers’ Centre. She used to manage rural CSR scheme of JSW at Salboni and successfully managed MBS scheme and OCH for Tata Motors plant at Singur as Corporate Relationship Officer in a renowned hospital. Furthermore, she worked in Project division in Hospital as well.

Nirmal has a unique blend of visionary leadership coupled with strong strategic planning for set-up and expansion of multi-site center operations and business model re-structuring. He is persuasive and influential C-Level professional offering more than 10 years of rich experience in setting-up, running and turn-around hospitals. Nirmal has contributed in the reducing administrative cost in Disaster Management Program, Tamil Nadu funded by USAID. Organized several cultural events for fund raising and improved fund raising at CINI.

Debleena and Nirmal are both Management graduates with over a decade of experience in the fields of Marketing, Branding, Social Science and Communication. Motivated by an urge to serve Community and create something ‘New,’ they gave seed to ‘Donovas’ in 2020. Their partnership with Donovas is expected to take it to the peak of success within a short period of time.

HENA GUPTA & MIHIR GUPTA

Chief Trainers

Hena Gupta and Mihir Gupta have been engaged with the handcraft industry for over two decades. Hena learnt weaving and motif works from her mother at an early age. She went on to attend Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan to acquire deeper knowledge about weaving. She also took training from Elmhurst on various types of Kantha Stitches. Along with her, Mihir oversees entire work and gives finishing touches wherever required. They have conducted several exhibitions in different places like Rajasthan, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, etc and gained much appreciation from the audience. They have executed several Government and private workshops for artists willing to learn handcrafted works.

SHUBHAM PAUL

Chief Photographer, Media Teacher, Cinematographer

Shubham is a media science graduate, specialized in Cinematography and Photography. He has valuable teaching experience, being a Filmmaking Teacher in institutions like Lakshmipat Singhania World Academy and Ashok Hall Group of Schools. He has served as Visiting Faculty at leading colleges and conducts workshops in leading schools. Shubham has been associated with The Telegraph as a Photojournalist since 2013. He has provided photography services to the Film Heritage Foundation, Greenply Plywood’s Nagaland Factory, Jio Filmfare Award (East), Amazing Thai Festival and Dragon Boat Festival 2015. A popular name with Hotel Industry of India and Thailand, he has shot multiple promo videos on food and property for renowned hotels.

SOMDUTTA GOSWAMI

Creative Director

Somdutta is a professional jewellery designer and a certified diamond grader and assorter. She has an industry experience of over 5 years and has been associated with a number of organizations offering her suggestions regarding styling. Along with these, she is also engaged in content development. Giving her experience in content writing she has been able to add a creative touch to the development of this website. Her flair and eye for details is expected to contribute to the growth and success of Donovas in the long run.
